Abstract

Glazing has evolved from a functional necessity for light and ventilation into a primary agent of architectural expression. In contemporary design, the selection of glazing styles—defined by framing systems, glass types, and geometric configurations—acts as a fundamental determinant of a building’s aesthetic identity. This article examines the intersection of glazing technology and architectural aesthetics, arguing that modern glazing systems do not merely enclose space but actively engage with the urban context, light, and materiality. By analyzing various glazing typologies, including curtain walls, structural glazing, and kinetic facades, this paper elucidates how strategic glass application influences the visual rhythm, transparency, and volumetric perception of the built environment.
