Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) has emerged as a cornerstone binder in modern sustainable construction. By blending ordinary Portland cement (OPC) clinker with siliceous or alumino-siliceous pozzolana materials, PPC optimizes hydration chemistry, lowers hydration temperatures, and densifies the microstructure of hardened concrete. This paper comprehensively analyzes the role and application of PPC in building construction. It examines the fundamental chemistry of pozzolana hydration, evaluates mechanical strength evolution and long-term durability metrics, reviews key structural applications (such as mass concrete dams and marine structures), and discusses potential challenges associated with its use. Real-world project examples validate its efficacy in mitigating thermal cracking and enhancing sulfate and chloride resistance.
